Today, we conducted our very first bee inspection, with Colin providing excellent assistance. The bees were remarkably gentle toward us "newbees."
Our main tasks were to check if the queen was present (she was!), confirm that the bees had enough food stores (yes!), and ensure there was sufficient space for them (definitely—plenty of empty frames).
Although we encountered some difficulties operating the smoker, thankfully neither we nor the bees were burned.
From now on, I plan to record all observations from each inspection.
